EC Para Dressage about to begin

Following Tuesday’s horse inspection, draw and familiarization of the arena by the competitors, the FEI Para Dressage European Championships are about to begin. The championship kicks off on Wednesday with the battle for medals in the individual test in Grades II, I and III (in that order), continuing on Thursday in Grades IV and V.
A total of 53 of the 54 horses were accepted during today’s horse inspection by the FEI vets. Only the horse of Spain’s Alejandro Nande Iglesias will have to undergo a re-inspection tomorrow for his participation in Grade V. His compatriot Félix Gomez González will open the competition day at 10 a.m., being the first starter in Grade II. This class will be concluded by Britain’s Jemima Green, after which the first European champion will be known.
The competition continues at 12 noon in Grade I, after which the twelve riders in Grade III will conclude the first day from 2.30 pm. On Thursday, the second day of competition also starts at 10 a.m. with twelve combinations in Grade IV, followed by the same number of competitors from 1.30 p.m. in Grade V. Sweden’s Lena Malmström will conclude the first part of this championship.
Other classes
In total the championship consists of three medal competitions. On Friday and Saturday, twelve nations will compete for medals in the team competition, and on Sunday, the freestyle to music for the best-placed individual combinations in the various Grades is scheduled.
